BORREGO WATER DISTRICT

Conservation

DID YOU KNOW?

If one person in every four avoided the free glass of water at a restaurant, we would conserve more than 26 million gallons of water?

A faucet drip or invisible toilet leak that total only two tablespoons a minute come to 15 gallons a day?  That's 5460 wasted gallons of water a year.

96.5% of the Earth's water supply is salt water.  Only 2.8% is fresh water.

TIPS:

Turn off the water when brushing your teeth. (Save 3 gallons a day)

Reduce shower time by one or two minutes. (Save 5 gallons)

Rinse your razor in the sink with a little water, not running water.

Don't use running water to thaw food.

Soak your pots and pans instead of letting the water run while you scrape them clean.

Wash full laundry loads.

Install a smart sprinkler controller.

Group plants according to water need.
